Vocational Rehabilitation Services at LIfL

At Lakeland Institute for Learning, we are committed to preparing students with special needs for meaningful, independent lives beyond the classroom. As a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) provider, we are able to equip students with the skills, confidence, and real-world experiences they need to thrive in the workforce.

Our VR program focuses on three key areas:

> Self-Advocacy Training

We empower students to understand their strengths, needs, and rights in educational and workplace settings. Through guided instruction and role-play scenarios, students learn how to express their goals, request accommodations, and make informed choices about their futures.

> Work Readiness Training

From communication and teamwork to time management and problem-solving, our work readiness curriculum covers essential soft skills and job preparation strategies. Students also explore career interests, practice interview techniques, and develop résumés tailored to their abilities and aspirations.

> Work-Based Learning Experiences

Hands-on learning is at the heart of our VR services. Students participate in supervised job experiences both on campus and with community partners, allowing them to apply their skills in real-world environments. These experiences build confidence, foster independence, and pave the way for future employment.

Lakeland Institute for Learning proudly partners with families, vocational rehabilitation agencies, and local businesses to ensure every student receives individualized support on their journey toward employment and self-sufficiency.

Together, we’re building brighter futures—one skill at a time.
